Making homemade salsa is quick and easy with just fresh tomatoes, onion, garlic, and jalapeno. You will want to make it all the time!
Homemade salsa was something I never considered until one day I was out of the store bought salsa. I did have a few cherry tomatoes and the rest was history. Making salsa doesn't have to take a lot of time or a complicated process. Simply, chop up some fresh tomatoes, onions, garlic, and toss in cilantro and salt.
The vibrancy of the flavors and simplicity are the best part of homemade salsa. You can customize the intensity of the spice to your own preference or to your family's, as well. Once you start to make your own homemade salsa, you will never want to go back to store bought again!
Cozy Tips for Homemade Salsa
- Make the salsa about an hour or so ahead of time from when you want to use it so that the flavors come together.
- The texture of the salsa is also up to your preference. The salsa can be chopped roughly for big and chunky bites or you can even process it in a blender or food processor for a finer more liquid salsa. I love the in between texture of smaller chopped chunks.
- Place the salsa in a cute jar with a string or ribbon and you can give it to family or friends.
- This salsa turns your average taco night into a fun family garden or backyard dinner party by placing a little bit of salsa into a small cup or jar next to everyone plate!
Ingredients for Homemade Salsa
- Tomatoes ( Cherry, Roma, or Heirloom)
- White or Red Onion
- Garlic
- Cilantro
- Jalapeno
- Salt
- Lime

What Type of Tomatoes Can I Use?
You can use whatever tomatoes you prefer or have on hand. I love using colorful cherry tomatoes!
How Spicy Is The Salsa?
The jalapeno is the source of spice in this salsa. As a result, you can control the level of spice by adding in more or less of the jalapeno and it's seeds.
The Cozy Details
Step 1: Gather and rinse if needed your ingredients.
Step 2: Chop the tomatoes, onions, garlic and jalapeno to the size of your preference.
Step 3: Place all of the tomatoes and their juices, onions, garlic and jalapeno into a bowl and nix together.
